Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance
A searchable index is provided to search the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) database. CFDA is a directory of over 1,300 Federal programs, projects, services, and activities which provide assistance or benefits to the American public. It contains financial and nonfinancial assistance programs administered by Federal departments and agencies. The Department of Health and Human Services is one of the agencies listed that offers the majority of federal assistance in the medical and health-related programs. You can retrieve program information by the program function, types of assistance, applicants, beneficiaries, circular requirements, obligations, matching requirements, and authorizing legislation.

Community of Science List of Funded Research from NIH, NSF, USDA, and others

CRISP - PHS-supported Grants Database
CRISP (Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects) system is a major biomedical database containing information on research projects and programs supported by the U.S. Public Health Services, including NIH, CDC, FDC, HRSA, and AHCPR. The database contains information on CRISP current and previous fiscal year files. You may search this full-text database by project title, principal investigator's abstract, printipal investigator, grant-receiving institution and CRISP thesaurus. The CRISP thesaurus is also available for searching. For better retrieval, use online help when searching CRISP.

GrantsNet, developed by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is a free public access network-based tool for finding information about HHS and other government grant programs. Specifically, it provides helpful grants related resources, including law, regulations affecting federal grant programs; HHS grants policy statements and manual; resources for administering federal grant awards; reports on Federal reinvention activities for improving grants management processes and procedures; a Who's Who listing of key contacts in Federal grant-making agencies; and a calendar of events.

GrantsNet: Funding Opportunities for Training in the Biological and Medical Sciences
This site, from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and American Association for the Advancement of Science provides one-stop shopping for young Scientists seeking for information on grants, fellowships and other forms of support for research and training in the biomedical sciences. The GrantsNet database is searchable. One must register before searching the database. The database is updated twice a month. Links to funders’ Web sites, online applications, and comments from recent application reviewers are included.

National Science Foundation
The National Science Foundation supports, through grants and contracts, scientific and engineering research and programs to strengthen scientific and engineering research potential, and education programs at all levels, and appraise the impact of research upon industry. Most biomedical research projects can be given a purely basic science slant that makes them eligible for NSF funding.
