History of the Health Sciences Lecture Series

The Claude Moore Health Sciences Library sponsors the annual History of the Health Sciences Lecture Series as an educational service for the University of Virginia Health System and interested citizens in the community. The Library hopes that the speakers and topics selected will promote a greater understanding of the historical and philosophical underpinnings of todays health care disciplines.

The generous support of friends, faculty, and alumni of the University of Virginia Health System provides funding for the Lecture Series.

2009/2010 History of the Health Sciences Lecture Series

The History of the Health Sciences Lecture Series has joined forces with the Medical Center Hour, the School of Medicine's weekly forum on medicine and society, co-sponsored by the Center for Biomedical Ethics and Humanities and Historical Collections. Our new lectures will take place on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1:30 at the Jordan Conference Center Auditorium unless otherwise noted. Beginning last season, the Medical Center Hour lectures are available on a dedicated YouTube channel updated each week. Please visit the MCH on YouTube for the full series. History of the Health Sciences Lectures will be posted below.
