Introduction

Access to UVa’s unencrypted wireless network “wahoo” is available throughout the Health Sciences Library and academic areas in the the University. Use the instructions below to register for and configure on-Grounds wireless on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Instructions below are the quick, easy method of connecting an iPhone or iPod Touch to the UVa wireless network. Instructions are also available from ITC for the more involved process of connecting to the secure "cavalier" network on an iPhone or iPod Touch.

Step-By-Step

  1. Locate the Wi-Fi Address of your iPhone or iPod Touch.
    • On your device, tap Settings, then General, then About.
    • Scroll to the bottom of the screen and write down the Wi-Fi Address.

  2. Using a desktop or laptop computer, navigate to http://netreg.virginia.edu and register the Wi-Fi address. Details on fields to complete are on ITC's iPhone Connectivity page. Registration will be active 5-10 minutes after entering the Wi-Fi address and other requested information.
  3. Connect to UVa's unencrypted wireless network, "wahoo."
    • On your iPhone or iPod Touch: From the Home screen, tap Settings, then General, then Network.
    • Select Wi-Fi, then Other.

    • In Network Name field, type wahoo.
    • In the Security field, indicate none.
    • At the bottom right of your screen, tap Join.
