How do I receive email alerts when an article of interest is cited?

Answer:

Use Citation Alerts from Web of Science. The Web of Science database allows you to automatically receive alerts when a specific article is cited in another publication.

Step by Step:
  1. Navigate to Web of Science by clicking the link on the Health Sciences Library homepage.
  2. Sign in, using the link at the top of the page (register for a Web of Science account if you do not have one).
  3. Perform a search on your desired keywords and/or author.
  4. From the results page, click on the title of the article of interest to go to the full record page.
  5. From the record page, click on the Create Citation Alert button in the right-hand column:

  6. A popup window will appear, allowing you to set the email address for the alert and the email format:

Click on the Create Citation Alert button to continue.

  7. To modify or delete an alert, click on the My Tools link at the top of the page, then choose Saved Searches & Alerts.

  8. Each alert you have created will have the option to renew, delete, and/or change options such as the email address and format for the alert.
